Washington D.C.

St. Croix Preparatory Academy believes in the benefit of educational travel opportunities. For the 2009-2010 school year, St. Croix Prep will be offering two trips to Washington D.C., one for 8th grade students and another for our 9th grade students. The following is meant to convey general information about these travel opportunities.

8th Grade Trip to Washington D.C.

Travel Dates. This trip will occur from June 2, 2009 to June 5, 2009.
Tour Moderators. This trip will be moderated by Jessica Christians (jchristians@stcroixprep.org), St. Croix Prep Middle School Social Studies faculty member. Other moderators will be added.
Approximate Cost. TBD, but the cost will be approximately $1,200 per student.

9th Grade Trip to Washington D.C.

Travel Dates. This trip will occur from April 14, 2009 to April 17, 2009.
Tour Moderators. This trip will be moderated by Anna Maakestad (amaakestad@stcroixprep.org), St. Croix Prep Upper School Art faculty member and Jason Langworthy (jlangworthy@stcroixprep.org).
Approximate Cost. TBD, but the cost will be approximately $1,200 per student.

St. Croix Prep has utilized Educational Tours for all of its previous travel opportunities to Washington D.C. Educational Tours is a fully insured agency specializing in student travel opportunities, with over 40 years of experience. For information about Educational Tours, Inc, click here. Educational Tours will prepare and distribute information for parents regarding travel specifics. This will include information related to registration, travel plans, itinerary, meals, etc. Once available, this information will be distributed to families and posted on this site.

Financing of Educational Travel Opportunities
St. Croix Prep has a history of successfully offering fund raising activities to help students finance this travel opportunity. While it may seem daunting, St. Croix Prep has assisted families in raising funds to participate in more expensive travel opportunities. (This past summer 10 students visited Switzerland and Italy for 10 days. The cost of this trip was over $3,000.) We only state this to emphasize that with work, the financial aspect can be accomplished.

All fund raising activities will require approval from the school's admin team. A facilities request form must be filled out for each fund raising request utilizing the school premises; and this also requires school administrative approval. Debbie Bramstedt (dbramstedt@stcroixprep.org) is the liaison to assist with approval and management of the fundraising opportunities related to this trip.
