Distance Learning In Effect Until End of School Year (Friday, May 29)
Dear Prep Community,
Today, Minnesota Governor Walz announced that distance learning will remain in effect until the end of the school year; and students will not resume classes in our school buildings. Sadly, we have been anticipating this announcement.
Extra-curricular Activities Are Canceled
Due to the Governor’s announcement, all extra-curricular activities are canceled for the remainder of the school year. We will be issuing refunds to those who have already paid registration fees for spring activities. The Minnesota State High School League will likely issue additional guidance on this.
St. Croix Prep Building & Campus Remains Closed
Until further notice, the entire building and campus of St. Croix Prep remains closed to the public. This includes the main building, gym, weight room, playground, and athletic fields.
St. Croix Prep Main Office Hours
The main office of St. Croix Prep will be staffed during normal business hours, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. In addition, St. Croix Prep will continue to provide childcare for qualifying emergency workers and meals for those families in need.
Year End Celebrations & Ceremonies
Unfortunately, many of the events that have been our traditional end of year celebrations will be canceled. These will be announced by each of the Principals through their standard communication methods. Regarding graduation — it is essential we celebrate the graduating Class of 2020 in a way that honors them, launches them, and expresses our gratitude for their contributions to Prep history. We have been considering ways to do this since the distance learning initiative began – we will do this in a way that is appropriate and safe. Stay tuned.
As I write this, I feel the weight of sadness. This is not how it is supposed to be. Despite all of this, the many cancellations, that which remains resides within you – patience, kindness, courage, hopes and dreams!
Be safe and well.
