Thank you for your part in helping us all stay healthy!

We met as a team yesterday to begin planning for the distance learning which is to commence on March 30. Over the next few days we will be communicating many items related to our future educational deliverables and operations. Today’s update is the beginning of these types of messages.

Distance Learning

Distance learning is all students having access to appropriate educational materials and receiving daily interaction with their licensed teacher(s) while not being physically at school. This learning may include textbooks, worksheets, technology solutions (e.g. Google Classroom), telephone instruction, etc. These learning solutions must allow for attendance tracking, accommodations for those students receiving special education services, etc. We will communicate much more about this prior to March 30. NOTE: With the above said, in order to set expectations, we believe that students will not physically return to St. Croix Preparatory Academy’s campus for an extended period of time beyond March 30.

Quarter 3 Close Out

St. Croix Prep’s 3rd Quarter ends on March 27. In order for us to adequately plan for the distance learning rollout, students (and parents) of Upper School students may receive communication from their teachers/principal.

Educational Travel

We are in communication with the organizations coordinating our educational travel to Italy, Washington D.C. and Wolf Ridge. We anticipate these trips will be canceled. If St. Croix Prep initiates cancellation, the participants’ refund may be less than if the organization cancels the trip. Given the current situation, we anticipate these trips will be canceled or rescheduled. As we get additional information we will communicate with those families impacted.

Spring Sports, Activities, and Events Canceled

All spring sports, activities, and events are canceled through April 6. This includes concerts, informational meetings, Service Day, Winter sports banquets, building rentals, etc. Regarding the spring sports, we are following guidance from the Minnesota State High School League. If they cancel the spring season, we will issue refunds for participation fees already paid. We will communicate information regarding year end events (e.g. Prom, Upper School Awards Ceremony, Graduation, etc.) as we approach those dates.

Students Receiving Special Education Services

Families with students receiving special education services will receive communication from our Student Services department regarding details related to the transition to distance learning.

St. Croix Prep Building & Campus Closed

Until further notice, the entire building and campus of St. Croix Prep is closed to the public. This includes the main building, gym, weight room, and athletic fields. We realize all of this is terribly inconvenient, unsettling, and disruptive. We also know that many of our families have changing job situations which only adds to the stress of these times. So, even though this note is factual in its content, we know that it is likely received with a sense of loss. We are all grieving, longing for schedules that seem more “normal”. If there is anything we can do to assist, please let us know.
