St. Croix Prep Community Update

March 18, 2020

Introduction

It was very nice to see some of our families walking through the building today, although we are saddened by the circumstances of the visit. You will be receiving (and may have already received) communication from principals and teachers. As we plan for March 30, we want to ensure the first day of distance learning is as smooth as possible. Key information for today is as follows:

Distance Learning Begins on Monday, March 30

The current school calendar has March 30 marked as a professional development day. Last evening the board approved changing March 30 to an instructional day; so our distance learning will begin on March 30.

Distance Learning and Attendance Procedures

In planning for the distance learning rollout, we have tried to standardize our technology as much as possible (e.g. Google classroom). This will make it easier for families with students in different divisions. At the same time, due to difference in ages, class schedules, and course content, the attendance process may be a bit different across the Lower, Middle and Upper School. Each division will be communicating with you regarding this. NOTE: If your child will be absent from learning for the day, please call our attendance lines by 9:00 am to report your child’s absence. In addition, please remember to indicate the symptoms of your child’s sickness or the physician’s diagnosis.
  • Lower School Attendance Line is 651-395-5991
  • Middle School Attendance Line is 651-395-5992
  • Upper School Attendance Line is 651-395-5993

Spring Sports and a MSHSL Update

Activities Director, Rich Dippel is conducting a virtual meeting for coaches and interested students/parents tomorrow, Thursday, March 19 at 10:00 am. This meeting will cover the Minnesota State High School League’s current policies related to spring activities. If you would like to be on this call, please email Rich Dippel for meeting details.

Free Meals to Students

Our free meal service to students has begun and will be served weekdays through Friday, March 27, to any child in our community between the ages of 1 and 18.

Meals will include a lunch as well as breakfast items for the following day. Meals will be served on a first come/first served basis. You will not be asked to fill out any paperwork and no names will be taken; you just need to show up to pick up your meal.

Families can pick up meals between 11:15 a.m. and noon at St. Croix Prep. Meals will be distributed from the north ‘back’ cafeteria door (the school’s ‘bus’ entrance).

Please email Marianne Thole, Food Service Director, with any questions.
